Babcock forceps used for grasping, holding and encircling delicate structures such as ureters, fallopian tubes, bowel, ovaries, and appendix. They are frequently used with intestinal and laparotomy procedures, particularly useful for grasping tube-shaped structures. This instrument features circumferential, rounded edge triangular jaws, which ensure optimal grip on tubular tissues. In addition, the internal surface of the jaws features horizontal serrations for protecting the grasped tissues. When the instrument is closed the ridge fits into the groove securing the held structure from slipping. Babcock intestinal and tissue grasping forceps comes with long shafts for deep surgical access. Also, the ratchet mechanism allows for self-locking the jaws, which enables surgeons to grasp other devices.
Babcock tissue forceps are similar to Allis forceps, though they may be less traumatic due to round and wider grasping surface. The hypogastric connective tissues are perforated lateromedially. Crafted from 100% high-grade German surgical stainless steel and can be reused after sterilization.
